In combination with unconstrained degrees of freedom, these parameters lead to combinatorial explosion. Numerous parameters, such as those that determine the catalyst itself (e.g., the catalyst molecule in homogeneous catalysis), the substrates, the solvents, and the potential additives, are needed to completely define the catalytic system CS.
